As a Registered Social Worker, I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and understood. I work from a holistic, client-centred, trauma-informed, and feminist lens, recognizing that each person's experiences, relationships, identity, and ways of coping are important parts of the therapeutic process.
Before starting my practice, I worked in a variety of settings, including residential treatment centres, hospitals, and community mental health. These experiences allowed me to work with diverse populations and support people experiencing significant challenges in their lives, many of whom were coping with the effects of unresolved trauma.
Over time, I began to notice how the behaviours we often label as “unhealthy” or “problematic” can be ways of coping with experiences that feel overwhelming or difficult to process. This can show up through addiction, eating disorder behaviours, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or other ways of trying to manage distress. I believe understanding what is underneath these behaviours is an important part of creating meaningful and lasting change.
Working in community mental health also showed me how deeply mental health can affect every area of a person's life. I saw firsthand the importance of having access to support before someone reaches a point of crisis, instability, or homelessness. These experiences have shaped the way I practice and strengthened my belief that everyone deserves access to compassionate, non-judgmental mental health care.
A significant focus of my practice is eating disorders and trauma/PTSD, and I often work with clients who are experiencing both. I am a registered CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) and CBT-E (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders) therapist, and I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches depending on each client's needs and goals.
As a mom, I understand how difficult it can be to prioritize your own needs when life is busy, stressful, and full of responsibilities. I aim to make therapy flexible, practical, and focused on your goals so that our time together feels meaningful and useful.
